This week I finally got a lightroom editing software on the school computer. well I always had it but I just never registered. As you can see by my post I had a lot of fun with the editing that lightroom has to offer. I admit I may have had a little too much fun with all the effects. If I did then this blog is a show to how much you can overuse the effects. If you like it then awesome it’s a way to show how lighting effects can spice up pictures. I used a couple inspirational sources for this such as the good old Digital Photography Schoolย and a fellow photographer classmate, Christina Pudwill. I hope you enjoy the pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the rule of thirds that I used on this one. I maybe could have cropped in a little more in. I should have cropped from the bottom up more, but I think the reason I didn’t is because I liked the leaf below that added to the picture a little bit.

On this one at first I didn’t like the fact that the flower is kind of shriveling and dying on the edges, but now I kind of think it looks good. It shows that some of the most beautiful things have flaws, but looking past the flaws it is still beautiful. Deep stuff right there ๐Ÿ™‚ I used a burned effect on edges because I really wanted all the focus on the flower. and the house was just a tad bright for my liking.

I like the angle I took this picture at. I actually really like the angle. I think I like it because it isn’t just straight forward, but it’s also not straight down or up. It a tilted upward sort of angle. (Is that legit?) I like the color of the flower a lot. (There was no editing done to the color.) The only thing I don’t like about the picture that the outer petals are blurred. I wish the entire flower would be in focus.

I really like this one. Bleeding hearts, in my opinion, are one of the coolest flowers. I love the look of them. I like how that first flower is in focus, and the rest of the picture slowly blurs more. I also like that you can see some super blurred bleeding hearts in the lower right corner. I used rule of thirds on this one to add to the picture. If I had something to critique on this one it is a little over-exposed on the top. ย I tried to fix it, but it only made it worse so I just minimally fixed it.

Okay, so this one is awesome! I love how it’s a pretty flower, but the effect I used and the way the way the flower is sort of dark makes it look like the flower of death. Again I used a rule of thirds.

I am going to be honest that I am not in love with this picture and the only reason I put it on was so I could critique it. I for one don’t like that the background is so boring. Other than the blurred flowers the background sucks. It is just the side of a house. I also didn’t like the lighting of the flower at all and the only way I could fix it was by adding this lighting effect that I don’t like. Bright pretty flowers shouldn’t be desaturated or have the vibrance taken down like so. I wish I would have gotten a different angle and I wish I would have added more of the flower. Overall, this is not my best work right here on this picture.

I like this flower and the angle that I shot at. ย The color of the flower and the background is so vivid and exciting. I also like how green the grass is in the background. This picture perfectly illustrates SPRING! If I have to add something I don’t like I suppose the front few pedals maybe would look better in focus, but I don’t know I would have to see. I like it how it is ๐Ÿ™‚ย I like this picture because the colors, but the thing I really don’t like is that large blade of grass. It is sort of distracting to me even though it is blurred out. Also I wish I would have focused more on the flowers. It’s a little out of focus.

This week throughout class we have been doing mini shoot offs. Each day we went out. took some pictures, came in and edited the best of the bunch, and voted throughout class who did the best. I was happy with my pictures throughout the days so I decided they deserved to be on my blog. I obviously got inspiration for this from my photography teacher, Mr. Twitchell. The following pictures are the ones I used as my photo to be judged on as well as a couple others I edited up because they were good ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my personal favorite of all because I like the angle that I got at as well as how sharp the flower is. I focused it on the center things out which I wish I would have gotten the entire flower super sharp and everything else blurry but oh well.

My main focus in this one is the flowers. But I made it purposely to where I could get another photography in the background. It added a little more to the picture. I would go back and shoot those flowers to where they were sharper though if I could.

II like this picture because how the colors are. The grass is so green and the sky is so blue!I like it! I would have gotten down more at a better angle though if I would reshoot it.

Footprints in the sand. I took this picture out at the baseball fields. I happened to stumble across these footsteps I thought it was great for a picture. I took this at many different angles. I liked this one the best though.

I like the colors in the photo. I wish though that the flower petals were a little more in focus but I do love how in focus the center is. I mainly only got this angle of the flower, therefore I wish I would have gotten more angles.

I like the macro I used on this one. I really like how the pollen stems coming out of the flower are in focus and the rest is kinda and then the background is just bur.

I love the angle of this one as well as the cropping I used in this picture. I also like how in focus the dandelion is in the center and it gradually gets blurry. This picture shows that flowers don’t always have to be the most beautiful flowers to be a good picture. The picture makes the flower beautiful.

This weekend I decided after doing photography at night I wanted to do some more! I didn’t want to do the same thing though therefore I did some painting with light. Last year my photo teacher taught my class about it. You have one person hold a light source at night time in a dark place. Then you stand in front of them as if you are going to take a picture of them. Shoot at a long exposure time and then while shooting have them make some shape, object, wording, etc. It is quite fun and easy to get creative with. I got some inspiration for this by http://www.diyphotography.net/painting_with_light.

I wish that I could have got a little more creative with this. I am going to eventually do it again but as for now this is going to be it. Tell me what you think.

This is my favorite of all of them because it looks like a broken heart. And the brightest spot is in the break. I think it looks super cool.

My intention for this one was for the person to make a camera. It kind of looks like one I guess.

I like this one because the rule of thirds angle that I got on it. It adds a little more to the picture.

Money! Who doesn’t love the money?!

I wanted to make this one a ring that is shinin. The burst of light coming from the ring were smaller than I hoped though.

Just a normal heart but still looks good I think.

This final photo I took originally only had one star but I copied the star and resized it to make more. It looks better with more.
